The date and venue for Al Ahly’s CAF Champions League Group D opener against Zanaco have been confirmed.
The Egyptian giants have been drawn in the final group alongside Morocco’s Wydad Casablanca, Cameroonian contenders Coton Sport and Zambia’s Zanaco.
According to KingFut, Al Ahly director of football Sayed Abdel-Hafiz has confirmed their first fixture’s date after receiving the confirmation from both the Egyptian Football Association and security officials.
The Red Devils will begin their group stage campaign with a home match against Zanaco on Saturday May 13 at the Borg El-Arab Stadium outside of Alexandria.
Ahly will be using the venue as their home base instead of the El-Salam Stadium in Cairo. They will also be allowed a maximum of 5,000 fans, as Egyptian football continues its battle against violence and riots at major matches.
