Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce says they won't see the best of their star striker Jonathan Kodjia, who is currently nursing a long-term injury.
It has been confirmed that the Ivory Coast international will be out for 'three or four' months after undergoing surgery on his broken ankle.
Kodjia, 27, sustained the injury during Villa's recent 1-0 defeat to Blackburn Rovers and Bruce has wished him a speedy recovery.
“Nobody challenged him and he turned his ankle,” Bruce told avfc.co.uk.
“He was operated on yesterday. They have put a screw into it. It’s gone as well as it could.
“We’ll miss him at the start of next season so the repercussions of it are in, my expectation, that we won’t see the best of him for six months," he added.
“Okay, he might be back in three or four months but he’ll have rehabilitation.
“It’s devastating news for us all. He’s had such a good season and my plans are all built around him. We wish him a speedy recovery," he continued.
“Hopefully everything will be okay and he’ll come back fighting again.”
