Gabon and Guinea will face off in the opening match of the 2017 Under-17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals at the Stade de Franceville in Franceville on Sunday.

Kick-off is at 16h00 (CAT).

Nicknamed the Panthers, Gabon qualified for this year's youth continental tournament by virtue of being the hosts.

Madagascar were scheduled to host the tournament, but CAF executive committee decided to withdraw their hosting rights following reports from the CAF inspection teams and Gabon were selected as the new hosts.

Alain Rodrick Miyogho, a midfielder and Azaria Obame, a striker, will be looking to impress and help Gabon win their first match in the competition.

Meanwhile, Guinea made their first appearance in this tournament in 1995. Their best result was finishing third at the same tournament.

The Young National Elephants secured their place in this year's competition after beating Morocco and Senegal during the qualifying campaign.

Some of their key players are Mohamed Blaise Camara, Djibril Fandje Toure as well as Aboubacar Lape Bangoura.

Cameroon and Ghana are the other two teams in Group A and they will look horns at the same venue after the clash between Gabon and Guinea.
