AfricanFootball wraps up Saturday’s CAF club action, which saw five matches played across the continent.

In the Champions League, title holders Mamelodi Sundowns and eight-time winners Al Ahly both got off to slow starts in their respective groups as they were held to goalless home draws.

Sundowns were unable to get the better of visitors Saint George in Tshwane, a result which sees them trail Esperance de Tunis by two points in Group C.

It’s the same story for Ahly in Group D, as they trail Morocco’s Wydad Casablanca by two points after being held to a stalemate by Zambia’s Zanaco at Borg El-Arab Stadium.

Zanaco’s compatriots Zesco United got off to a winning start in Group C of the Confederation Cup as they defeated Smouha 1-0. The only goal was scored by Jesse Were late on from the penalty spot.

In Group B, three-time Confed Cup winners CS Sfaxien got off to a winning start as they edged Swaziland’s Mbabane Swallows 1-0 in Tunisia thanks to a first-half goal from Alaa Marzouki.

Saturday’s action was completed by the late kick-off between Morocco’s FUS Rabat and Ugandan visitors KCCA.
