CS Sfaxien are off to a winning start in Group B of the 2017 CAF Confederation Cup after they defeated Mbabane Swallows 1-0 on Saturday night.
The Tunisians, who are three-time winners of the competition, got the better of their visitors at the Stade Taieb Mhiri in Sfax, though they will have wanted a greater margin of victory against the minnows from Swaziland.
Yet Swallows have proven to be tough competitors in African club competition this year and will take confidence from their performance despite coming away with no points.
The decisive goal was scored just past the half hour mark by Alaa Marzouki.
The second Group B match of the weekend sees Platinum Stars of South Africa host Algeria’s MC Alger in Rustenburg on Sunday afternoon.
The second Matchday of fixtures will be played on May 23-24.
