Ghana were lucky to advance to the final of the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations, according to coach Paa Kwesi Fabin.
The Black Starlets defeated Niger 6-5 on post-match penalties in Wednesday’s semifinal in Port-Gentil. The match ended goalless after 90 minutes.
Ghana will face Mali (who defeated Guinea on penalties in the other semi) in the final in Libreville on Sunday.
“We have given people of Port-Gentil real entertainment, it was a very tactical match and I want to congratulate Niger for giving us a very good match,” Fabin said in a post-match interview, as quoted by GHANASoccernet.
“Though we had chances, we messed them up, but we are lucky to go through on penalties, we would go back into the drawing [board] and correct the mistakes before heading for the final on Sunday.
“We scored nine goals in the first two matches and we couldn't score in the last two matches.
“I wished I can be crowned winners of this tournament now because I don't have any preference between Mali and Guinea.”
