Niger Under-17 coach Ismaila Tiemoko says his side were not prepared for the 2017 U17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals in Gabon.

The Junior Menas suffered a 3-1 defeat to Guinea U17 in a third-place play-off clash at the Stade I'Amitie in Libreville, Gabon on Sunday.

"After our qualification," Tiemoko told CAF Media.

"We didn't have enough to prepare well for the other matches especially the players came here first and foremost with the mentality of qualifying for the World Cup.

"And once they have achieved that it became a problem for them to play on a higher level again. But we shall go back home and prepare well," he added.

"We have qualified for the World Cup and we would need a lot of friendly matches to condition the mind of these players."
