KCCA and Rivers United will meet for an East v West clash in the CAF Confederation Cup this weekend.
The teams are slated to meet at the Phillip Omondi Stadium in Kampala on Saturday afternoon for their Group A, Matchday 3 clash. Kick-off is at 15h00 CAT.
Group A is intriguingly poised heading into the third round of games, with all four teams level on three points apiece. By the time KCCA and Rivers get underway on Saturday that will no longer be the case, with FUS Rabat playing host to Club Africain in Morocco on Friday night.
The Ugandan hosts will come into the match full of confidence after defeating Club Africain 2-1 in the previous Matchday, with Derrick Nsibambi and Tom Masiko scoring the goals in a come-from-behind win.
Likewise, the Nigerian visitors will look back on a 1-0 home win over FUS (with Emeka Atuloma scoring the only goal) and take momentum into this clash with KCCA.
Given that all for matches in this group have produced home wins, the Kampala side start as favourites, but United were arguably hard done by in their previous match on the road, a 3-1 loss to CA in Rades which was perhaps not a true reflection of their performance. And the Nigerians will see this trip to East Africa as their best shot of getting some away points in the bag.
This will be the first match in a double-header between KCCA and Rivers, with the return game in Port Harcourt scheduled for June 20.
Somali referee Hassan Mohamed Hagi will take charge of the match in Kampala on Saturday.
