Two South African-based Malawian internationals in Robert N'Gambi and Gabadinho Mhango have been called up for Malawi for their 2019 CAF Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Comoros next week.

The Flames new coach, Ronny van Geneugden has invited the Platinum Stars midfielder and the Absa Championship winner with Bidvest Wits, Mhango to join the team.

Although the manager has called up a strong team, he has decided to drop Kamuzu Barracks player and national team skipper, Davie Banda.

Van Geneugden replaced Ernest Mtawali as a permanent coach in April and is now preparing for a 2019 AFCON encounter on 10 June.

"His form has dropped and his club aren't playing the style of football I'm looking for," the coach explained to the BBC.

"I think it will be a strong group that is ready to play the passing game and stick to the game plan.

"We have a strong squad, we selected the players because we think they have the technical skills to give quality to the group."

On the other hand, striker Chiukepo Msowoya is also not in the 27-man squad as he failed to score in six months for his South African club Golden Arrows.
