Leicester City’s Algerian winger Riyad Mahrez has reportedly emerged as a potential transfer target for Real Madrid.
Barcelona are rumoured to be close to reaching an agreement to bring the Fennec Foxes man to Camp Nou, while Chelsea and Arsenal are also said to be keen on the player who inspired Leicester to their 2015/16 Premier League title triumph.
However, according to a report from Diario Gol, Real Madrid are set to force their way into the battle for the Algerian.
They claim that Real coach Zinedine Zidane, who is of Algerian descent, is a fan of Mahrez and the Spanish club has made contact with Leicester.
The player himself is said to prefer a move to Barcelona, though that may be complicated by a request to wait for them to complete a priority signing for a fullback.
It is expected that Mahrez will be sold for a fee in the region of €40-million in this European summer.
