Mohamed Salah’s proposed big-money move to Liverpool has club legend Steve Nicol worried.
The Pharaohs winger is reportedly close to completing a move from Roma to Anfield, with the Reds set to pay somewhere in the region of £40-million to land the player.
While most Liverpool fans are delighted at the prospect of the speedy Salah joining their attack, Nicol reckons it’s too big a fee for a player who may not start in the first-choice XI.
He told ESPN: "It is a lot of money, yeah. It's a lot of money for Liverpool to buy a player, who, if everybody is fit, I don't think starts.
"You play [Philippe] Coutinho on the left, you play [Sadio] Mane on the right. I don't think you play Salah through the middle, that means he doesn't start.
"As far as the squad, obviously Liverpool are in the Champions League yes, but for £40m? I don't think so."
