Tanzania has given Tottenham Hotspur’s Kenyan star Victor Wanyama a unique honour by naming a street after him.

The Harambee Stars player has been on holiday in Tanzania and the city of Dar Es Salaam has honoured Wanyama by naming a street after him, following his recent triumph in the Kenyan sports personality award.

The midfielder attended a local football tournament in the district of Ubungo and took to Instagram to post a video of himself unveiling a sign which reads ‘V. Wanyama Street’.

He thanked the district for the honour, writing: "My sincere thanks to Mayor and all the Ubungo Municipal residents for welcoming me and giving my name to the NHC Local Road."
