Ahead of their participation in the 2017 Maize Cup, Free State Stars have retained the defensive duo of Rooi Mahamutsa and Thamsanqa Teyise.
Mahamutsa and Teyise were both signed in the 2016/17 season after being deemed surplus to requirements at Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United respectively.
The experienced pair proved to be good acquisitions for Ea Lla Koto, as they made a combined 32 appearances in the Absa Premiership and helped the Free State side avoid relegation.
Stars boss Mike Mokoena has confirmed that both Mahamutsa and Teyise have been awarded with new contracts.
"We've extended their contracts and if you remember these players helped us a lot,'' Mokoena told KickOff.
''I'm not so sure of how many seasons they were given but I think it is between one or two seasons. But all I know is that they have extended their contracts.
"It was important to keep them because they really helped a lot because we were really struggling at the time."
In other news, Stars have yet to announce their new coach, having parted ways with Serame Letsoaka at the end of last season.
