Liverpool’s signing of Mohamed Salah and their pursuit of Naby Keita has been given a thumbs-up by club legend Robbie Fowler.
The Reds broke their transfer record last month to secure the services of Egypt star Salah from Roma, laying out a reported £37-million.
Yet that will be just the tip of the iceberg according to reports out of the British media, with Liverpool planning to spend another £100-million or more to bring RB Leipzig’s Guinean midfielder Keita to Anfield, as well as Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk.
Fowler has backed these plans, arguing that the financial outlay will bring a higher calibre of player to Liverpool, enhancing their chances of success under manager Jurgen Klopp.
“They seem to be concentrating on getting in that bit of extra quality in crucial positions," Fowler told the Mirror.
"And that is the right policy, rather than splashing their cash on six or eight players, like they seem to have done during the last few years.
“If they have to spend £150m to £180m to get three top-class players, it will be money well spent."
