AfricanFootball previews the final round of group stage matches in the 2017 CAF Confederation Cup, which will see teams battling for the five remaining places in the quarterfinals.

Only MC Alger, three-time champions CS Sfaxien and surprise package Al-Hilal Al-Ubayyid are safely through to the quarterfinals coming into Matchday 6.

Group A will be completed on Friday night, with co-leaders Club Africain and KCCA meeting in Rades and FUS Rabat tackling Rivers United in the other match. A draw between Africain and Kampala would be enough to see both teams advance regardless of the result in Morocco.

Saturday’s early games will decide the fate of defending champions TP Mazembe in Group D. The DR Congo giants host co-leaders Horoya of Guinea in Lubumbashi, while third-placed SuperSport United host CF Mounana. There’s a very real chance of three-way tie between Mazembe, Horoya and United at the top of the group - and all of the matches between the trio have ended in draws.

The evening matches will complete Group B where the only interest is whether MC Alger or CS Sfaxien (who have both secured qualification) finish top of the group. The pair meet in Sfax, with the Algerian visitors leading their opponents by just one point. The other game between Platinum Stars and Mbabane Swallows in Rustenburg is a battle to avoid the wooden spoon.

Group C takes centre stage on Sunday, where the trio of Recreativo Libolo, Smouha and Zesco United are in a three-way battle to join Al-Hilal Al-Ubayyid in the quarterfinals. The advantage lies with the Zambians, who know that a win at home to Ubayyid will see them through, while a draw may also be enough depending on the result between Libolo and Smouha in Angola.
