The quarterfinal ties for the CAF Confederation Cup have been confirmed following this weekend’s completion of the group phase of the competition.
The all-Southern African tie between SuperSport United and Zesco United promises to be a thriller, with the former proving their worth by qualifying from a group which included TP Mazembe and Guinea’s powerful Horoya, while the latter finished top of Group C.
And that pool’s second qualifiers, Angola’s Recreativo do Libolo, certainly benefitted from the disqualification of Sudan’s Al-Hilal Al-Ubayyid, gifting them a tie against reigning Confed Cup champions Mazembe.
The other two quarterfinals are North African derbies: the Tunisian pair of CS Sfaxien and Club Africain topped their groups to earn ties against Morocco’s FUS Rabat and Algeria’s MCA respectively.
The quarterfinals will be played over two legs, with the matches set for the weekends of September 8-10 and 15-17.
