CAF President Ahmad Ahmad has sent condolences to the Senegalese football fraternity following a tragic incident that killed eight people.
In a statement, the CAF boss said he would like to express his most sincere condolences to the Senegalese Football Federation following the tragic incident on Saturday during the League Cup final at the Demba Diop Stadium in Dakar.
Media reports indicate that close to100 other spectators sustained injuries as Ouakam fans clashed with opposing fans at Stade de Mbour during Saturday's League Cup final.
The letter addressed to the president of the Senegalese Football Federation, Augustin Senghor, said the continent is mourning with them.
“We share the grief of the bereaved families and observe a deep recollection in memory of those who have left us,” the CAF President said.
"We convey our sympathies, sadness and emotions to the highest authorities of the country in the wake of the unfortunate incident.”
The Senegalese Football Federation has since suspended Ouakam following a stampede which resulted in fans losing their lives whilst some are injured.
