DR Congo giants TP Mazembe have clinched the 2016/17 Congolese Super Ligue title ahead of their fierce rivals AS Vita Club.

The Ravens clinched their 16th Super Ligue title after beating their rivals Vita Club 1-0 thanks to Daniel Adjei's goal at the Stade TP Mazembe in Lubumbashi.

Vita Club finished second having accumulated 30 points from 14 league matches, while Mazembe collected 33 points.

According to the Mazembe official website, Katumbi praised the club's technical team and players.

A club statement read: "Chairman Moses KATUMBI congratulated the Crows, Congo champions this Wednesday, July 19th. The President of the TPM appreciated this brilliant success since Rabat - where he participated in the CAF Symposium - and immediately stressed the performance of his players.

"The boss of the club has hailed the new title of Congo champion pocketed by his club. Moses KATUMBI is very proud of his players and congratulates them as well as their coaches, committee members and supporters, all those who make the club grow by offering each year a major trophy at the TPM."
