Zambia senior national team coach Wedson Nyirenda has called up Green Buffaloes midfielder Mike Katiba ahead of their friendly against Ethiopia.

The Chipolopolo manager wants to use the match as preparation for the 2018 CAF African Championship Qualifier against South Africa on August 12.

Reports in Zambia indicate that Nyirenda has recalled Katiba and Red Arrows defender Webster Mulenga ahead of Saturday’s international friendly.

Katiba and Mulenga were part of the COSAFA Cup squad that lost 3-1 to Zimbabwe in the final in Rustenburg, South Africa, three weeks ago.

The team is set to assemble for camp on Monday in Lusaka and has Toaster Nsabata, Allan Chibwe, Kelvin Malunga, Taonga Bwembya, Ziyo Tembo, Donashano Malama, Webster Mulenga, Adrian Chama, Isaac Shamujompa, Fackson Kapumbu, Simon Silwimba and Jackson Chirwa.

On the other hand, players such as Godfrey Ngwenya, Muchindu Muchindu, Kondwani Mtonga, Katiba, John Chin’gandu, Clatous Chama, Augustine Mulenga, Ernest Mbewe, Brian Mwila, Justin Shonga, Lubinda Mundia, Dave Daka and Martin Phiri are also part of the squad.
