New information coming through from Egypt is that Zamalek has earmarked a Belgian coach Franky Vercauteren to replace Augusto Inacio.

It is announced that Vercauteren has ended a quick visit to Egypt to negotiate a possible position as the new coach of Cairo-based club.

Reports in Egypt indicate that the former Belgium and Anderlecht manager is among many foreign coaches nominated to succeed Portuguese manager, Inacio.

"The meeting with Vercauteren was very fruitful. He has a very admirable personality, but the board has not yet made the final decision regarding the new tactician," Zamalek board member Ahmed Mansour said.

Inacio ended his spell following a dispute with the club's chairman Mortada Mansour after a string of poor results.

The White Knights are chasing the Egypt Cup as they meet Al-Masry in the quarter-final on 8 August 2017.

Zamalek have had 15 different coaches since the election of Mansour in 2014, including Ahmed Mido Hossam, Hossam Hassan, Manuel Ferreira and Alex McLeish.
