Reigning French Ligue 1 champions AS Monaco have announced the signing of Algerian international Rachid Ghezzal on a four-year deal.
The midfielder has been playing for Ligue 1 giants Olympique Lyonnais and he has since left the club which nurtured him in its academy, before he was promoted to the first team in 2012.
"I have the ambition to play at the highest national and international level, and the Monaco sporting project, which holds the title and has been until the semi-finals of the Champions League, is fantastic," Ghezzal told the club's official website.
"After several seasons in Lyon, I needed a new challenge. Everything is gathered here to make a great season. I can not wait to meet my teammates and start training," he added.
Vadim Vasilyev, the AS Monaco vice President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), welcomed the 25-year-old winger to the club.
"We welcome Rachid Ghezzal, whom we have been following for some time. He is a talented young player who knows our Championship well but also has a solid experience in the European Cup," Vasilyev said.
"We believe a lot in Rachid and his capacities to cross an additional cap in Monaco, in contact with the staff and the group," he added.
Ghezzal, who was born in France, played for the European country's Under-20 side, before choosing to play for Algeria at senior international level.
