Congo-Brazzaville and Democratic Republic of Congo drew 0-0 in the 2018 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifier on Friday.

The Central Zone first-leg encounter was played at the Stade Municipal de Kintele in the city of Brazzaville.

The home side created chances, but Beranger Itoua and Junior Makiesse could not convert them in the first time.

The score was 0-0 during the half-time break with the hosts having failed to beat DR Congo goalkeeper Levy Matampi.

With his side struggling to break the deadlock, Congo-Brazzaville coach Barthemely Gatsono introduced Harris Tchilimbou in the second-half.

The Leopards of DR Congo continued to frustrate the Red Devils and Congo-Brazzaville attacker Matheus Botamba missed the target in the closing stages.

Nevertheless, the encounter ended in a 0-0 stalemate and the second-leg match will take place in Kinshasa next weekend.
