Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane seems to have accepted the fact that his star player, Khama Billiat could leave the African champions.

The Brazilians mentor spoke after their 1-0 defeat against Maritzburg United in the MTN8 Cup quarter-final on Sunday.

He said they have lost players in the past and will continue to do so, but says they would like to retain the Zimbabwean attacker.

Billiat's future has been a subject of speculation in recent times as he could move to Europe following the likes of Bongani Zungu and Keagan Dolly.

Zungu joined Vitoria Guimaraes in Portugal in 2016 whilst Dolly moved to Montpellier in France this year.

The 26-year-old has only one year left on his current contract and it appears he wants to find a new challenge, with a move to Europe potentially on the cards for the Warriors international.

"If he renews, we love him, he is a good player, but he wants to leave and he doesn't want to renew," Mosimane said.

"What else can we do? It is his life. We lost Katlego Mphela, we continued and won cups. We've lost Elias Pelembe and we won cups.

“We lost Lebogang Mokoena, we won cups. We lost Ramahlwe Mphahlele and we won the Champions League.

"We lost Bongani Zungu and we won the league. We will lose players, but we will go on.

"But we would love him to stay, we want him to stay and I think he will stay. Sundowns are strong. I will be gone and someone else will win the league. So, life goes on."

Sundowns will open their 2017/18 Absa Premiership account against neighbours, SuperSport United on Saturday, 19 August at Lucas Moripe Stadium.
