AfricanFootball highlights the continent’s top players set to feature in Matchday 1 action of the 2017/18 UEFA Champions League on Wednesday, 13 September.

At Anfield, Senegal star Sadio Mane will look to put his weekend red card behind him when he and Mohamed Salah take to the wings for Liverpool’s home clash with Sevilla, and Manchester City’s Yaya Toure could see action in their clash at Feyenoord, who are set to be led by Moroccan Karim El Ahmadi.

Kalidou Koulibaly and Faouzi Ghoulam’s Napoli face a tricky trip to the Ukraine to face Shakhtar Donetsk, Cape Verdean Ze Luis could see action for Spartak Moscow in their trip to Maribor, and Guinea superstar Naby Keita will look to justify the hype surrounding him when RB Leipzig make their Champions League debut at home to Keita Balde and Rachid Ghezzal’s Monaco.

Tottenham Hotspur will be without Victor Wanyama for their match at home to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s Borussia Dortmund, Yacin Brahimi and Vincent Aboubakar will look to feature for Porto at home to Besiktas, and Benin’s Mickael Pote will look to put his name into APOEL’s history books when they face reigning European champions Real Madrid.
