Algerian defender Faouzi Ghoulam could be on his way to Manchester City, if the English club can open talks with Napoli in the coming days.

The Sun reports that City are eyeing a cut-price deal for the Fennec Foxes left-back in the January transfer window.

The 26-year-old will be out of contract at the end of the current season and will soon be allowed to negotiate with interested parties in regards to a free transfer.

However, City manager Pep Guardiola is hoping to bring Ghoulam to the Etihad in January.

This is after French left-back Benjamin Mendy picked up a season-ending knee injury, leaving the Citizens short of options in the position.

However, City could face tough opposition from Premier League rivals Chelsea and Liverpool, who are also keeping close tabs on the Algerian.

Yet Guardiola’s men appear to have the inside lane, as they will face Napoli in the UEFA Champions League next week and plan on having talks with the Italian side.
