Cameroon coach Rigobert Song has made it clear that the local-based Indomitable Lions will be looking to win the 2018 African Nations Championship (CHAN) title.
The Indomitable Lions booked their place in the continental tournament after defeating São Tomé and Príncipe in the Central Zone first round qualifier two months ago.
The team has been preparing for the finals under the watchful eye of former Cameroon captain and defender Song, who spoke to the Cameroonian football federation website.
"It is still early talk about our ambitions because we do not know our opponents of the first round," Song said.
"Nevertheless, we will go into this competition with the ambition to go as far as possible and this necessarily involves good preparation.
The 41-year-old, who turned out for English giants Liverpool FC during his successful playing career, is looking to ensure that Cameroon win their first ever CHAN title next year.
"I am a very ambitious person. Cameroon has yet to win a CHAN. I work every day to see my country win this trophy; we have the means," he added.
"However, we must first cross the first turn and the rest we will see later."
On Sunday, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced that Morocco will host the 2018 CHAN finals.
