South Africa’s Absa Premiership continues with an almost full set of fixtures this midweek, with the pick of the games seeing heavyweights Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs cross swords.

‘Downs, having been knocked out of the Champions League last month, are free to focus on the domestic league and will chase a fourth win in the space of five matches, while Chiefs come into the game off a 2-1 loss at home to surprise package Baroka FC before the international break.

Amakhosi coach Steve Komphela remains under major pressure to deliver success back to the Soweto giants and cannot afford a defeat to a fellow title hopeful on Tuesday night.

On the same evening, Cape Town City will look to put the disappointment of defeat in the MTN8 final behind them when they host Bloemfontein Celtic, while the cup winners, SuperSport United, have had their match at Bidvest Wits postponed due to their participation in the CAF Confederation Cup semifinals this coming weekend.

Wednesday’s feature game sees surprise table-toppers Baroka host nearest chasers Golden Arrows in Polokwane, with the home side looking to open up a healthy lead by handing Abafana Bes’thende their first loss of the season.

Orlando Pirates will aim to maintain their 100 percent home record when they welcome bottom-of-the-log Platinum Stars to Soweto, while Chippa United will be hoping for anything but another draw when they host Maritzburg United.

Free State Stars will hope their recent resurgence continues with a win over embattled Ajax Cape Town, and AmaZulu will fancy their chances of handing Polokwane City a fifth defeat in the space of six league matches.
