AmaZulu will look to extend their unbeaten run in the Absa Premiership to three matches when they host Polokwane City at King Zwelithini Stadium on 18 October 2017, kick-off at 19h30.
AmaZulu were last in league action on September 23 when they were held 1-1 at home by Platinum Stars on September 23. The Durban side fought back from a goal down to salvage a share of the spoils, with striker Rhulani Manzini scoring his third goal in the last two matches.
Usuthu are unbeaten at home so far this season, with two wins and two draws from four matches. Their tally includes a three-pointer against defending league champions Bidvest Wits last month.
Polokwane saw their winless streak extended to five matches when they were held 2-2 at home by Orlando Pirates. The Limpopo side fought back from a goal down to lead 2-1, but conceded an equaliser in injury time to let two points slip away.
Rise and Shine’s only victory this season arrived in an away match - they beat Mamelodi Sundowns 2-1 in Tshwane in August - but since then they have suffered defeats on the road at hands of Ajax Cape Town and Cape Town City.
In head-to-head stats, AmaZulu and City have met in four league matches since 2013/14. Usuthu boast an unbeaten record in the sequence, with two wins and two draws. Both of the Durban side’s victories have arrived in home matches.
The teams last met in the 2014/15 season and played to a 2-2 draw in Rise and Shine’s home match before AmaZulu claimed a 2-0 win in the return game. The four points claimed did not help Usuthu avoid relegation from the top flight at the end of the campaign.
AmaZulu’s line-up from their 1-1 draw with Stars on September 23: S. Mbatha, Gumede, Nyongo (Mangqibisa 57’), Ouro-Akoriko, Mtsweni, S. Dlamini (B. Mbatha 66’), Darpoh, Ncube, Ncubeni, Cele, Manzini (Khenyeza 85’).
