Betrand Traore netted the winner as Lyon trumped Everton 2-1 at Goodison Park on Thursday evening, as the Toffees remain winless in Europa League Group E.

The Burkina Faso international finished with aplomb following a weaving run down the right flank by Ivorian Maxwell Cornet, as the French side claimed all three points on Merseyside.

Nabil Fekir, who is of Algerian descent, opened the scoring on the night before Ashley Williams leveled matters in the 69th minute.

Everton's joy, though, lasted all but six minutes as pressure continues to mount on head coach Ronald Koeman following a poor start to the season.

Senegal international Idrissa Gana Gueye was an unused substitute for the hosts.
