SuperSport United returned to winning ways with Aubrey Modiba leading their charge in a 3-0 win over Golden Arrows in an Absa Premiership match at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit on Tuesday evening.
Modiba at the double for the hosts with Reneilwe Letsholonyane also getting his name on the score-sheet as Arrows suffered their first defeat of the league season.
The game got off to a rip-roaring start and after Jeremy Brockie chanced his luck from range in the opening minute, Thuso Phala forced Nkosingiphile Gumede into a good save at his near post.
Modiba also guided an early effort over the crossbar, but Arrows should've opened the scoring at the other end of the pitch in the eight minute.
Knox Mutizwa unable to convert a golden chance for the visitors following a defensive error.
The Zimbabwean forward was made to rue his miss as SuperSport turned on the style and duly opened the scoring in the 24th minute. Letsholonyane with the easiest of finishes following a good work by Brockie.
Matsatsantsa continued to probe and doubled their lead in the 44th minute through Modiba. The defender-come-midfielder prodding home from close range after Gumede spilled Bradley Grobler's initial effort.
The hosts were threatening to run riot and made it three seven minutes after the interval, as Modiba hammered an unstoppable shot past Gumede from the edge of the area.
Grobler was unlucky not to add his name to the score sheet with his shot cannoning off the crossbar in the 82nd minute, but it mattered little as Eric Tinkler's men claimed a commanding win.
