Bidvest Wits and Baroka FC will have their first cup meeting when they contest a place in the Telkom Knockout semifinals at the Bidvest Stadium on 4 November 2017, kick-off at 20h15.
Wits earned their place in the last eight with a thrilling 4-2 home win over Free State Stars in the previous round. The match, which went a full 120 minutes, saw the Johannesburg side score through Bongani Khumalo, Amr Gamal (a brace) and James Keene.
The Clever Boys are two-time League Cup champions, claiming the trophy in 1985 and 1995, and will fancy their chances of a first title in the Telkom Knockout era if they can get past their Limpopo visitors.
Baroka, meanwhile, gave notice that their impressive league form this season has not been a fluke, as they ended the reign of TKO champions Cape Town City last weekend: Talent Chawapiwa’s fine strike saw them oust the Citizens 1-0 in the last 16 round.
Bakgaga will hope that this second successive appearance in the quarterfinals is not the end of their TKO campaign, but they will have to up their game to claim a first win over Wits.
The teams have met in three league clashes since the start of last season when Baroka were promoted, and the Clever Boys boast a 100 percent record - that includes a 1-0 win in Limpopo in a match on October 22 in which Vincent Pule scored the decisive goal.
Wits come into the match having suffered a demoralising 2-0 home defeat to Chippa United in a midweek league clash, while Baroka were held to a 1-1 draw at AmaZulu.
