Algerian attacker Rachid Ghezzal has earned praise from Monaco coach Leonardo Jardim for his impressive cameo this past weekend.
The 25-year-old returned to the Monaco side after a lengthy absence by appearing as a 77th minute substitute in Monaco’s 6-0 win over Guingamp on Saturday.
In his short spell on the field, the Algerian provided the assist for Guido Carrillo’s goal, and caught the eye with his skills and direct style.
It had been speculated that Ghezzal fell out of favour with Jardim, but the Portuguese coach emphasised that this is not the case.
"A problem with Ghezzal? No. He got hurt, he came back to the group after four or five training sessions with us,” explained the Monaco boss.
“He was with us in Istanbul and on Saturday he will be with us. He is a very technical player, I press him a little to get in touch.
“If he puts more commitment, with the technique he has, he will pass a course. He can do it."
Jardim added, “He took the ball, hit and provoked. I'm waiting for acceleration and not just a passing game.
“It is this offensive aggressiveness that I expect from him. He has the individual quality to do that.”
