Hull City coach Leonid Slutsky remains keen on signing Leicester City’s Nigerian international Ahmed Musa.
The Super Eagles player has fallen down the pecking order at the Foxes following the club’s upheaval in management.
And Slutsky, who worked with Musa at Russian club CSKA Moscow, admitted that the Tigers almost landed a deal to sign the player on deadline day in the last window.
"We came very close to Musa," Slutsky told the Hull Daily Mail. “But not each decision depends on me or the club.
“I think maybe he wants to prove himself at Leicester and he needs one more attempt. He thought a lot and finally his decision was to stay at Leicester.
“The final decision was at midday on deadline day and we didn't have a chance to change Musa for another option."
Despite his lack of playing time, Musa is a part of the Nigeria squad which will tackle Algeria in their final 2018 World Cup qualifier this weekend.
