Swansea City striker Tammy Abraham has snubbed the chance to play for Nigeria, as confirmed by parent club Chelsea.

The Camberwell-born 20-year-old is eligible to represent Nigeria because of ancestral ties to the West African country.

Nigerian football authorities have attempted to recruit Abraham for the Super Eagles, but their efforts have been in vain.

Abraham has received a call-up to the senior England team for impending friendlies against Germany and Brazil, and Chelsea confirmed on their official website that he is committed to the Three Lions.

In reviewing their players that have reported for international duty, the Blues’ site explained: “Abraham who, along with Loftus-Cheek, has been called up to the senior squad for the first time, has pledged his long-term future to England following recent reports which indicated Nigeria were hopeful of persuading him to switch allegiance.”

Abraham will hope to make his senior England debut in the match against Germany at Wembley Stadium on Friday night.
