The 28-year-old and his Senegal team-mates will face South Africa's Bafana Bafana in two crucial back-to-back 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in the next few days.
Bafana will host the Lions of Teranga in Polokwane on Friday and the return leg clash is scheduled to be played in Dakar next week Tuesday.
A win for Senegal in either match would secure qualification for the Lions of Teranga, who are blessed with top European-based players.
Retired Senegalese striker Diomansy Kamara has named Everton FC midfielder Gueye as one of the West African giants' key players.
"They are very good players," Kamara said on Xalimasn.com.
"Whether it is Cheikhou Kouyaté from West Ham or Idrissa Gana Guèye who is surely one of the best reclaimers after N'Golo Kanté in (English) Premier League (EPL).
Gueye, who is a central defensive midfielders by trade, was one of Senegal's top performers as they beat Cape Verde 2-0 away in a World Cup qualify last month.
"The first turning point was in Cape Verde, we won it. Now we are going to fight against Bafana Bafana in Polokwane," the former West Bromwich Albion star added.
"And after that, if it does not happen the way we want, we will take stock at that time. But it's not worth talking before."
Gueye has made six appearances thus far during Senegal's qualifying campaign.
