Tanzanian international Mbwana Samatta says he is delighted after being shortlisted by CAF for the 2017 African Player of the Year award.
The forward, who is on the books of Belgian First Division A side Genk, was named among 30 nominees and the Awards Gala will be held on Thursday, 4 January 2018 in Accra, Ghana.
Samatta told Goal that he is thrilled with the recognition and believes it's a step in the right direction for his career.
"I am so delighted to see my name among the nominees," the former TP Mazembe star said.
"I am now believing that, slowly, my efforts are fruitful and my dreams will be real soon.
"I think my fellow Tanzanian players can learn something from this."
Samatta scored 14 goals in 27 league matches for Genk during the 2016/17 campaign.
