Ivory Coast legend Didier Drogba has revealed that he has always harboured ambitions of returning to French side Olympique Marseille.
The former Elephants striker played for OM for just one season in 2003/04, but left a lasting impression in Southern France before moving to Chelsea.
Drogba, 39, is currently the player-owner of United Soccer League side Phoenix Rising FC. He has explained that the door for a return to Marseille has always been open.
"What I am going to say about Marseille is sensitive and will be reported. Too bad,” he told RMC.
“I would have liked to come back to Marseille. I've always said it.
"Now, was I part of the project when I wanted to come back? I do not know.
“A question of money? No never. There is a minimum to respect anyway. We never managed to find common ground. It’s a shame.”
Drogba has also represented Le Mans, Guingamp, Shanghai Shenhua, Galatasaray and Montreal Impact in his club career.
