The influential midfielder played a key role in helping Senegal book their place at the 2018 FIFA World Cup finals which will be hosted by Russia.
Nicknamed the Lions of Teranga, Senegal defeated South Africa 2-0 in a Group D match at the Peter Makaba Stadium in Polokwane last week Friday and they qualified as group winners.
Gueye played the entire match in the middle of the park - protecting the Senegal defence along side West Ham United defender-cum-midfielder Cheikhou Kouyate.
Aliou Cisse decided to rest some of Senegal's key players ahead of their final Group D match which was against South Africa at the Stade Leopold Sedar Senghor in Dakar on Tuesday.
However, Gueye and Senegal captain Kouyate kept their place in the starting line-up as the Lions of Teranga secured a 2-1 win over Bafana Bafana in a dead rubber.
Gueye, 28, took to social media to express his joy after Senegal qualified for the World Cup for the first time in 16 years:
The midfield enforcer will now focus on Everton's upcoming English Premier League (EPL) match against Crystal Palace which will be played in London on Sunday.
Before the FIFA international break, Gueye helped the Toffees end their four-match winless run in the EPL with a 3-2 win over Watford at home.
A victory for Everton over Palace, will see the Toffees move further away from the relegation zone.
