Nigeria captain John Obi Mikel will be enjoying some much-deserved down time following his performances for Tianjin Teda and the Super Eagles.
The 30-year-old helped Tianjin avoid relegation from the Chinese Super League (CSL) and was recently in action for Nigeria’s national team, helping them claim an impressive 4-2 friendly win over Argentina last week.
With the 2017 CSL season complete and the Super Eagles only in action again in 2018 when they resume their Africa Cup of Nations qualification campaign, it’s time for Mikel to put his feet up and enjoy his holiday.
However, the Super Eagles skipper will be looking forward to one major event: the draw for the 2018 World Cup, which will be staged on December 1 in Moscow.
The glittering event will see Mikel and Nigeria learn their group stage opponents (as well as the cities/venues they will be playing at) for next year’s global showpiece.
