PLAYER SPOTLIGHT: Idrissa Gueye - Everton fans urge Senegalese hardman to improve

Last season Gueye established himself as one of the best central defensive midfielders in the English Premier League (EPL) and he was one of the reasons why Everton FC qualified for this season’s UEFA Europa League.

The anchorman was solid, dependable just in front of the team’s defence thoughout the season and most importantly, he was a consistent performer for the Toffees, who finished seventh in the league.
This season Gueye has been one of the team’s many under-performing players. His dip in form has been one of the most concerning aspects of Everton’s demise which saw Ronald Koeman being fired as Toffees manager.

Some Everton fans took to Twitter following the Toffees’ 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace in a league match last weekend. The fans gave their thoughts on Gueye’s form.

Will take a draw today as palace needed to win this as they are currently bottom of the league. Plus it was away in a loud stadium. We need to sort out our defence and keep a settled back four. Niasse a big plus but gueye and schneiderlin need to sort it out.
