Everton coach David Unsworth: Oumar Niasse's charge sets a dangerous precedent

Everton interim manager David Unsworth believes the charge on striker Oumar Niasse could set a dangerous precedent.

This comes after the Senegalese forward was found guilty of diving and banned for two games following a punishment under the new English Football Association laws that were introduced in May.

Niasse becomes the first Premier League player to be charged after he won a penalty, under pressure from Scott Dann, in a league draw at Crystal Palace last weekend.

"I think these people [the FA] will be very busy," said Unsworth to the BBC.

"It's a dangerous precedent that could be set if decisions are given against you which are debatable.

"I think anywhere on the field it's a foul. He [Niasse] was shocked and I was shocked [by the charge].”

The Lions of Teranga attacker denied he had committed an act of simulation that led to the penalty being awarded in the fifth minute of the game.

However, the EFA's Independent Regulatory Commission has found him guilty.
