Ivory Coast defender Serge Aurier has admitted that he could have stayed with Paris Saint-Germain because of his emotional attachment to the club.
The Elephants right-back secured a move to English side Tottenham Hotspur earlier this year, arguing that he felt mistreated by the Parisian side.
He told Canal Football Club: "Of course I would've liked to continue playing for PSG. I played in the club of my heart. I'm from Sevran. I am Parisian so playing for your heart's club, there is nothing better.
"It would not bother me. At first I wanted to leave, after I thought about when there was the offer of contract, but in the end I thought it was useless."
Aurier continued: "I could not stay in the sense that I was not judged about my performances.
“When I was good, I was told that I was average ... When it's like that you have to go elsewhere. I was prepared for all that. I know how it goes.
“The most difficult thing is for my family. They do not know the codes of football. It was for me the moment to leave."
