U-20 Cosafa Cup hosts and defending champions Zambia will open their 2017 campaign when they take on Uganda in their first Group A match on Wednesday. Kick-off is set for 17h30 at the Arthur Davies Stadium.

Zambia won their 10th U-20 Cosafa Championship with their triumph in South Africa last year: the young Chipolopolo topped their group ahead of Malawi and Zimbabwe before DR Congo and SA in the semis and final respectively.

This year they will be expecting to once again dominate, especially on home soil, and fourth U-20 title in the space of five years seems a likely outcome for Zambia as they prepare for the 2019 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations.

Yet their first match presents a tough opponent in the shape of Uganda, who are one of two guest teams invited to the Southern African championships.

The young Cranes are led by coach Mathias Lule, who has explained that he has a plethora of players to choose from ahead of the tournament and expects his side to perform strongly in Zambia.

The other Group A match sees Swaziland and Malawi lock horns at Arthur Davies Stadium earlier on Wednesday. CLICK HERE TO VISIT AFRICAN FOOTBALL ZAMBIA
