The club is currently struggling in the relegation zone as they sit 16th on the league table with eight points after 12 rounds in the 2017/18 season.
Samy said that they’ll officially announce the appointment of El-Ashry as Degla’s head coach, adding that Ahmed Hamouda will serve as his assistant coach.
“Our goal is to help the team return to its normal position on the league table,” El-Ashry said in a televised interview.
“We’re in a tough situation and everybody has to work hard… We need to bolster our squad in January and we’ll figure out the needed players during the upcoming games.
“We’ve five tough games and we need to get positive results.”
Degla’s next game will be against Al Masry on December 9 in the round of 16 of Egypt Cup, before taking on Arab Contractors in the league five days later.
