Libya were denied a first win by Kenya as the two nations played to a 0-0 draw in the 2017 CECAFA Senior Challenge on Tuesday at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.

Although the Harambee Stars were touted as the favourites to bag their second Group A win following a 2-0 win over Rwanda on Sunday, the Mediterranean Knights stood their ground.

In the wake of the stalemate, the hosts now remain at the top of the table with four points from two matches so far, but will meet Zanzibar on Saturday.

Coach Paul Put's side had their fair share of opportunities in front of goal, but were not convincing and blunt to convert their chances.

There were no goals at the end of the opening half.

Libya were desparate for a win as they drew their opening encounter against Tanzania on Sunday, but coach Amr El-Mrimi's side could not capitalise on their chances.

From this draw, the North Africans are sat at number three with two points from two matches and are yet to win in the regional showpiece.

Libya will hope to break the duck when they play their third match against Amavubi of Rwanda on Thursday to ensure they challenge for a spot in the knockout phase.
