Johann Berg Gudmundsson: Nigeria one of the toughest opponents

Iceland winger Johann Berg Gudmundsson has explained that Nigeria are one of the toughest teams the European nation could have drawn for the group stage of the 2018 World Cup.The Super Eagles were drawn in Group D alongside Nigeria, Croatia and tournament debutants Iceland.
Gudmundsson, who plays his club football with Burnley in the Premier League, told the Lancashire Telegraph that Iceland will back themselves in Russia 2018.
“We’ve got Croatia again, not really happy about that, we played them in the World Cup play-off last time and they were in our group this time, but we know we can beat them,” Gudmundsson said.
"Nigeria from the fourth pot, that’s one of the toughest opponents there, but anything can happen in a big tournament like the World Cup.
"We’ve done some good things over the last few years and we’ll go out there, enjoy it and try and do good things again.”
Nigeria and Iceland have met just once before: a 1981 friendly in Reykjavik which was won 3-0 by the European team.
