Thomas Partey's Atletico Madrid will play no further part in the season's UEFA Champions League following a 1-1 draw against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday evening.
The 24-year-old played 90 minutes as the Spanish La Liga outfit failed in their quest to reach the knockout stages of Europe's premier club competition.
AS Roma moved top of Group C following a 1-0 win over Qarabag, with the Blues coming in at second spot - level on 11 points with the Italian Serie A outfit. Atleti end four points back having managed but a mere win in six fixtures.
Partey returned to midfield for Diego Simeone's troops having been deployed at right-back over the past few weeks - showcasing his versatility yet again.
The match was the Ghana international's 21st of the season across all competitions, having only missed the club's opening game of the league season due to suspension. It is only three less appearances then he made throughout the whole course of the 2016-17 campaign.
Atleti will now enter the Euorpa League, a competition they've won twice over the past eight years.
