South Africa will ignite their quest for 2017 COSAFA Cup glory when they take on Mauritius in a Group B clash at the Nkana Stadium in Kitwe on Thursday afternoon.
Kick-off is at 15h00 local time.
Amajita, who are five-time champions of the Southern African showpiece, have been drawn alongside the Islanders, guest nation Egypt and Mozambique.
Thabo Senong's troops reached the final of the 2016 tournament on home soil, but lost 2-1 to Zambia. South Africa last won the competition four years ago under then coach Shakes Mashaba.
The Amajita boss has been boosted by a clean bill of health on their arrival in Zambia with Orlando Pirates Lyle Foster and Ajax Cape Town's Kiyaam Bull among the notable names included in the squad for the tournament.
“All players are fit and are fighting for a spot in the starting eleven, so once again we as the technical staff have a healthy headache to attend to," Senong said.
"Many of the players will be receiving their first caps and this is of course great for the development of our team, as we are building towards something bigger within the next two years”.
Egypt edged Mozambique 1-0 in the group opener on Wednesday.
