Zimbabwe were held to a 0-0 draw by Lesotho in their opening fixture of the 2017 U20 COSAFA Cup at Nkana Stadium in Kitwe on Thursday.

The Young Warriors, in search of their first piece of silverware in the Southern African showpiece for 10 years, struggled to break down a stubborn Likuena outfit who held their own against their more fancied opponents.

Lesotho came within inches of opening the scoring in the 16th minute as Koloti Raboama watched on in agony as his shot cannoned off the woodwork.

The game continued to ebb and flow with both teams happy to sit back and hit their opponents on the counter-attack, which made for a cagey showdown.

Six time champions Zimbabwe threatened to take the game away from Lesotho following the interval, but were met with great resistance as both teams struggled to create any clear cut chances on goal.

In the end, the two teams had to settle for a point apiece in what was ultimately an uneventful Group C clash.
