SuperSport United will look to rise up the Absa Premiership log with a win against Cape Town City at the Mbombela Stadium on 9 December 2017, kick-off at 15h30.
SuperSport come into the match having played out a goalless draw away to Orlando Pirates on December 5. It was just the second draw this season for the Tshwane team, who have a number of games in hand following their run to the final of the CAF Confederation Cup.
Matsatsantsa have a solid home record thus far in the 2017/18 season, having claimed 10 points from a possible 15. Their last game as hosts was a 1-0 win over Ajax Cape Town on November 29 which saw Aubrey Modiba score the only goal.
City, meanwhile, have gone three league matches without a win after losing 4-2 at home to Maritzburg United on December 5. The Cape Town side was forced to host the match in United’s home province of KwaZulu-Natal and will be highly motivated to put that adversity behind them.
The Citizens have a mixed record away from home this season, with two wins, one draw and two defeats from five games on the road. Their last away win was against derby rivals Ajax Cape Town in late September.
In head-to-head stats, SuperSport and City have met in just two previous league matches. Both of those encounters took place last season, with Matsatsantsa taking four points off the Citizens thanks to a 1-1 draw in Cape Town and 4-2 win in Tshwane.
SuperSport’s line-up from their 0-0 draw with Pirates on December 5: Pieterse, Nhlapo, Daniels, Gould, Boateng, Furman, Letsholonyane (Mbule 75’), Phala, Mokoena (Mokeke 82’), Modiba (Myeni 63’), Brockie.
City’s line-up from their 4-2 loss to Maritzburg on December 5: Walters, Johannes, Gumede, Fielies, Dove, Martin, Nodada, Matsi, Masina (Lakay 75'), Patosi (Ngoma 50'), Majoro (Akosah-Bempah 75').
